Print Drops

Background Information

This is a public art project I started in 2024 as a means of connecting with my local community and spreading a bit of delight. The gist of it is that I make limited runs of linocut prints and then hide them in public places for people to find and take home. That’s it.

Every print is packaged in a celophane sleeve with a backing card, info sheet, and a sticker. Every series is a different three-color A5 size design. From series two onward, the prints all bear an authenticity stamp on the reverse side of the print with a little bit of information on that given edition (edition size, print number, series number, date, etc).

This page catalogs each series and provides some images of the prints, some background information, and a link to a short making-of video for the print runs.

Support This Project

Designing, printing, and distributing these drops represents a significant time commitment on my part, but it’s been such a joy and I hope to keep this going for a long while to come. If you appreciate what I’m doing here and would like to support the project, I’ve setup a Buy Me a Coffee page where you can send me a few bucks to help cover the materials costs that go into these prints. Please don’t feel obligated though.

Series 1

Date Completed: August 31st 2024
Edition Size: 28
Notes:
This was my first print drop series. The design was of a little Dutch herring stand with some seagulls hanging around. This was my first three color print that wasn’t a reduction print and it went. . . ok. I learned a lot, however, and future prints would come out a lot nicer thanks to the things I learned on this first run.

Series 2

Date Completed: September 28st 2024
Edition Size: 43
Notes:
I really got the hang of things on this run of prints and was extremely pleased with how these turned out. Part of that success came from planning the design to be a little more forgiving of slight variances in registration between each color. This one remains one of my favorite print runs so far. I occasionally re-print new editions of this design in new colors to sell at art markets.

Fun fact is that I designed this print while riding on the train.

Series 3

Date Completed: September 28st 2024
Edition Size: 45
Notes:
I designed this print at a drawing meetup. I thought it’d be neat to print an eel zigzagging across the page. That’s about all of the thought process that was involved here. It turned out pretty fun and I really liked the ink colors I was able to mix for this one. Had a real Nikelodeon vibe to them.

Series 4

Date Completed: March 28st 2025
Edition Size: 40
Notes:
First print drop of 2025! This may be my favorite series thus. Just love how it came out and the colors are so spot on here. The response to these has been really positive too. I think I’m really finding my stride here.
